When I arrived in Denmark, I am directed into Herot, King Hrothgar's mead-hall. He sends Wulfgar, one of his lords to greet me. He speaks about me directly to the Hrothgar and I stand with my men. I am almost afraid that Hrothgar will deny my request, after i have traveled all this way, to help him get rid of this evil monster Grendel. When I speak to him, I tell him all of what I have done, I have defeated 5 giant monsters and sent them from the Earth. I really hope that telling him all of my feats doesn't seem like boasting or being over confident even if I have indeed done all of these things I tell him. But luckily it just proves to him that I am the real deal and can handle Grendel.

When I Arrive in Denmark
Unferth Tries to ruin Beowulf's Credibility
In the middle of the
celebration, after Hrothgar had given me his permission to help him, get rid of
Grendel. Unferth decided to try to ruin everyone's mood and embarrass me in
front of everyone. He told everyone that when I was younger I lost a swimming challenge
against Brecca because I wasn’t stronger than him and I had lost and all I did
was boast about everything. This irritated me greatly, but I didn't let it show
because what he was saying wasn't the complete truth. What I was concerned
about the most was that, perhaps King Hrothgar would change his mind if he
decided to believe Unferth over what I had just told him. I didn't interrupt
Unferth from speaking because that would've been quite rude. However when he
had finished I explained that I had indeed lost the swimming race against
Brecca and had come to the shore after he had but only because I had to fight
off a bunch of sea creatures that kept attacking me while I was on my way to
the shore; Also because Unferth had too much mead to drink and was just running
off his mouth.

Just Finished Defeating Grendel
So this is how the fight went down
On the outside I looked like a beast, ready to kill Grendel but on the inside I was terrified. Not necessarily terrified of Grendel himself but of losing being defeated and not being able to help King Hrothgar. When I had come face to face with the "guardian of crime", I was really awake and eager to meet my enemy while the King's men had laid down to rest. I noticed that this Grendel really was quite a beast, really quite enormous and muscular with the strangest skin I've ever seen. I'd hoped that the last meal he'd of the men would be his last, with all my power and strength I have I'm going to make sure that Grendel doesn't hurt anyone else ever again.
